Different goals act as a barometer for the appetite of your teams.
Sometimes they can be ambitious; other times, conservative.
It’s not about “what is best” — it’s about having options to make things sustainable.
The three types of goals look like this:
Stretch goal: “What would happen if we could achieve something extraordinary this sprint or quarter?”
Target goal: “What do we hope to achieve?”
Commit goal: “What do we think we will definitely accomplish?”A commit goal says “ what are we do think we will accomplish ?
I’ve seen this thinking model in action a few times and I really like how it helps teams make decisions and manages expectations.
